In vitro study	AIC246 is able to block viral replication without inhibiting the synthesis of progeny Cytomegalovirus DNA or the synthesis of viral proteins. AIC246 is one of the currently effective anti-HCMV (cytomegalovirus) agents, with an EC50 value of about 5 nM in cells, while the selectivity index exceeds 15000.
In vivo study	In the mouse xenograft model, the HCMV titer in the transplanted cells of the experimental mice treated with AIC246 decreased dose-dependently compared with the control mice treated with placebo.
